MOtion is life

We are IN-NETWORK!

The #1 mistake many people make when asking a Doctor's office about their insurance is they ask, "Do you accept my insurance?"  This is the wrong question.  The providers listed in your insurance portal are the providers who are "IN-NETWORK."  These are the providers who accept the benefits on your insurance plan.  Many offices have a very slick way of side-stepping this question, because most people ask the wrong question.  Many Doctors of Chiropractic are NOT IN-NETWORK with your insurance.  Dr. Hextell most likely is IN-NETWORK.  Here is a list of some of the major providers and what you can expect in general from your insurance benefits.

1) Co-Pays: Some plans have a co-pay for Chiropractic.  This is an amount you pay for the spinal adjustment.  If you have a co-pay for chiropractic, you most likely do not have a deductible to meet before your insurance will contribute to your care.

2) Deductibles: Many patients will have a deductible to meet before their insurance will contribute to their payments.  This deductible is likely the same deductible as your other medical care.  Once you meet your deductible, your insurance will likely pay for 80 or 90% of your chiropractic adjustment.  The good news is that your insurance usually does "cover" chiropractic care, but just like your covered medical services, "cover" does not mean "pay" until your deductible is met.  At that point, you may owe $0-$12 for your visit in most cases.

Here is a list of what you can expect from your insurance coverage in Colorado as of August 2023:

(The following information is true and accurate to the best of our ability)

Standard Office Visits for Established Patients:

Anthem (Blue Cross/Blue Shield): $41 per office visit

Medicare: Most of our Medicare patients pay $0-10 per office visit.

United Healthcare: $50 per office visit

UMR: $50 per office visit

Cigna: $58 per office visit

Aetna: $58 per office visit

Humana: Usually has a $20 co-pay for Medicare Replacement Plans

Kaiser: Usually has a $30 co-pay per office visit

Note: The First Visit is NOT a Standard Office Visit.  You will likely be here for 60-90 mins, depending on the complexity of your case.  Some of the insurance companies can be rather sneaky about how they explain their insurance coverages.  The fact is, in 15 years, we have rarely seen a health insurance pay for the Initial Exam or X-Rays.  The "Reasonable and Customary Fees" for these services is between $185-$350, depending on what is done at that visit.  Our clinic offers a "Time of Service Discount" of $100 for the first visit which will include ANY AND ALL services provided at the first visit, regardless of what services are performed as long as you pay at the time of service.

For those of you who are certain your insurance is supposed to pay, we consider this payment "A deposit towards your care" much like a "retainer" with an attorney.  In the event that your insurance does pay for more than we expect, then the duplicated payment is applied as a credit to your account and you may have a credit towards your next visit.  We have accepted a contract with your insurance company, but just be aware, that does not mean we have agreed to give away legitimate medical services for free.  We are sure you understand that there are costs associated with healthcare.  You will likely agree the amounts described are very low when it comes to medical exams, x-rays and treatments.  In this office, we do our absolute best to continue to provide affordable care, but we cannot afford to provide care for free.

Rocky Mountain Chiropractic and Sports Injury Centers is passionate about what we do.  We provide thorough evaluations, quality feedback, patient-centered care and we take time with our patients in order to make sure we give each person our best.  You may wonder why other chiropractic offices do not accept insurances.  Most likely, they feel the same way about their passion for chiropractic and they do not feel the insurance contracts allow them to charge enough money for their services.  Maybe they are right and maybe not.  I would like to believe that this clinic has found a way to balance these items, making Chiropractic Care affordable for everyone while implementing a sustainable business model so we can be here to provide this quality care to the people of our community.
