Massage Therapy
About Danielle
My name is Danielle Moody and I have been a certified massage therapist for over 6 years. I attended the Healing Arts Institute and graduated in May of 2003. Upon graduating I started out my career at the Windsor Athletic Club where I worked for two years. For the past four years I’ve had the opportunity to work at Stine Chiropractic. Throughout my six years I have worked with many clients with sports related injures and helped in their recovery.
I am a “people person” and I believe that you can not be more personal with someone as you can giving them a massage. I became a massage therapist because when I was 16 I got in a severe car accident and part of my recovery process was getting Neuromuscular Deep Tissue Massage. It was painful at first but after my first appointment I realized how much better I felt. That is when I decided I wanted to make others feel that way. I have been very blessed to have some of the most amazing clients in my short lived career, and would love to meet you as well!

Definition of Swedish Massage
The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Purpose of Swedish Massage
The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles,
Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.
Benefits of Swedish Massage
Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.
Definition of Deep Tissue (Neuromuscular Therapy)
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage
It feels good and it is beneficial to your health. When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it’s important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body and also to eliminate soreness for the days to come.
Definition of Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy massage is the prenatal use of massage therapy to support the physiologic, structural, and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Various forms of massage therapy, including Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular, movement, and Oriental-based therapies, may be applied throughout pregnancy as well as during labor and the postpartum period.
Benefits of Prenatal Massage…
Expectant moms experience unique physical and emotional changes that occur as a result of increased weight, shifting posture, and adjusting hormone levels. While this is a beautiful period of heightened expectation and joy, mothers-to-be also endure heightened physical discomfort that ranges from muscular tension and headaches to pressure on the knees.
Prenatal massage is a natural, touch therapy treatment aimed at alleviating these and other pregnancy related symptoms.
Experienced therapists choose techniques that are safe and effective for pregnant women. Prenatal massage offers a wide range of benefits, which include the following:
1. Eases backaches, headaches, shoulder and neck aches that may be caused by muscle tension and shifts in posture to accommodate increasing weight
2. Decreases pain in the pelvic/hip area
3. Increases circulation
4. Improves digestion
5. Reduces fatigue
6. Improves skin elasticity that can help reduce stretch marks
7. Helps reduce swelling in such places as hands and lower legs
8. Can alleviate the stress on weight-bearing joints, like the knees, which are impacted by the extra weight of a growing baby
9. Promotes relaxation and deep breathing
10. Helps stabilize hormone levels by lessening anxiety
Some women also choose to incorporate elements of massage during childbirth to cope with delivery. Massage therapy can also be a therapeutic treatment after pregnancy as your body returns to its normal state, and you begin your exciting life with baby. New moms are also learning how to bring the benefits of touch therapy to their children through infant massage classes.
All expectant mothers should check with their doctors prior to getting a massage. If you are in your first trimester, you must have a Doctors note, saying it is okay to receive massage. Prenatal massage may increase the change for miscarriage in the first trimester espically if you have had them in the past. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, or are on the early stages of pregnancy, pre-natal massage may not be recommended. It is important to share information about your condition and your preferences with your massage therapist when you arrive for your appointment. The massage therapist will adjust your prenatal massage to make it as soothing and as useful as possible based on your personal needs and preferences.
